It is an excellent helper especially when baking with kneaded or cast dough and when baking with whole grain flour
Baking powder contains baking soda, yet the two ingredients are used somewhat differently. Baking powder, unlike baking soda, does not release carbon dioxide immediately after the dough is mixed. The reaction takes place at an elevated temperature, i.e. only when you put the dessert in the oven.
